Staging a Revival at Stamford

Major Works in Progress

During 2002 and the early part of 2003, new stackable, interlocking seats were purchased, a fully equipped lighting box installed and work began on refurbishing the basement and extending/re-building the dressing rooms.Other major works to be undertaken as funds become available include a lift to all levels, first floor/basement toilets, new stage and orchestra pit, re-flooring ground floor function area, a raked theatre floor, stage fly towers and a new front staircase.no-one has any illusion. The task is a daunting and challenging one but team-work and the determination to suceed are much in evidence.

Future Plans and Funding

Plans have been approved for an addtional raked floor over the existing ground floor area to provide a full time 400-seater theatre complex. The existing function hall will continue to be available for auctions and other events and, once the cellar refurbishments are completed, these areas should generate the necessary funds to cover the upkeep and maintenance of the building

While as much work as possible will be carried out by volunteers, major structural changes and ancillary services are being put to tender. Fund-raising, donations and sponsorship will, of course, play a vital role in the progess and development of the entire project over the coming months.
